Description

Contract Killer is a 2.5D co-op beat 'em up inspired by many retro arcade games, where you play as a group of writing utensils with a mission to defeat evil contracts and other corporate goons. When the legendary Contract Killer, Erasir was defeated, the world was overrun by contracts, binding The Utensils to their legal demise. It's up to Leadhead and his crew to traverse different regions and defeat the bosses that rule over them in order to avenge their master, and bring an end to the contract calamity.

History

The initial concept of Contract Killer was created by a team of 4 university (UCSD) students for a week-long game jam for the theme: “I didn’t sign up for this.” The game takes inspiration from gameplay mechanics of traditional arcade beat ‘em ups like Streets of Rage, aesthetics from the Paper Mario franchise, and the goofiness of Castle Crashers and Cuphead. The game jam project was so fun to work on that the team wanted to expand the game into a full release including new characters, bosses, full campaign, PvP, and an endless Horde mode, all with a focus on couch co-op.
